Australia to reopen its border to international students and skilled workers soon

Yes, you heard it right!

If you are an international student or skilled worker stranded in your country, we have good news for you. Australia is planning to reopen its border to international students and skilled workers, hopefully after 15th of December, 2021.  Australia opened its border on December 1st after almost 2 years of being in lockdown due to covid pandemic. It immediately went on lockdown as new information emerged about the Omicron COVID-19 variant and vaccine potency.

The Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, hopes Australia can reopen to visa holders and students by Christmas. Even though highly transmissible, the Omicron variant has shown to be less deadlier and amidst the ongoing concern, Australia still plans to reopen it’s border soon. The government plans to enforce mandatory mask wearing rules for international flights and restrictions on international travel from countries perceived high-risk. International students and skilled workers will be required to stay in quarantine and pose vaccine documents for their safety.

It is optimistic news for everyone who is planning to travel to Australia soon. With mandatory covid testing and mask requirements, the safety of the people won’t be at risk. The leaders have agreed to continue considering international border settings coherent with beneficial strategies for the reduction of the transmission of the Omicron variant.

As the vaccination rate is very high in Australia, if the government delays the decision by any chance, the students will still be able to continue their studies through virtual measures. We hope the border opens soon and you will be able to live your Australian dreams!
